Marta’s Counseling: Types of Approaches

Marta believes that therapy is not a “one-size-fits-all” approach to healing. She uses various methods to create an effective and personalized treatment plan for each client.

Marta’s main theoretical modalities include:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) helps clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

CBT helps transform negative thoughts and behaviors into healthier patterns to improve overall well-being. It gives clients the ability to better problem solve, build healthier coping tools, decrease stress, and increase resilience.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Marta Mild teaches her clients mindfulness techniques to help them become more aware of their bodily sensations, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors in the present moment.

Depression and anxiety often stem from one’s concerns about the past or future—such as worrying about past events or fearing what may happen next. By grounding ourselves in the present, we can alleviate anxiety and depression, enhance emotional regulation, reduce stress, and regain a sense of control over our lives and emotions.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic Therapy explores how past experiences shape our current thoughts and behaviors.

It focuses on childhood experiences and trauma, fostering self-reflection to uncover the roots of our patterns and behaviors.

This approach is particularly beneficial for those experiencing relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, and those seeking to enhance their self-awareness.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps those suffering from a wide range of mental health conditions such as trauma, PTSD, phobias, anxiety, low self-esteem, and depression. EMDR is a holistic approach that helps clients feel “unstuck” by retraining their brains to naturally process their emotional distress and heal from any painful experiences. During a session, Marta will assist you in focusing on a specific memory while engaging in a physical activity, such as following her hand movements or tapping your hands, feet, or shoulders. This retraining process makes the memories feel less intense and scary, ultimately helping clients heal.

Online Counseling: What to Expect While in Therapy

Processing Emotions

Marta creates a safe space for clients to express and process feelings in a comforting and empowering environment. She is dedicated to helping clients work through unresolved issues and traumas and guiding them toward healing.

Developing Coping Skills

Marta provides clients practical coping tools they can apply beyond therapy sessions. She empowers them to learn and implement strategies that foster resilience and promote lasting well-being.

These mental health tools include mindfulness practices, breathing exercises, and grounding techniques to help manage stress and alleviate symptoms.

Changing Mindset and Behaviors

Marta utilizes various theoretical approaches to help clients identify irrational behaviors and thought processes. She assists them in replacing these with healthier, more logical alternatives. Marta exclusively uses evidence-based treatments to support her clients.

Understanding the Root of the Problem

Marta helps clients identify the root causes of their distress and challenges, promoting a deeper understanding of themselves. Through meaningful discussions and guided self-reflection exercises, clients are encouraged to uncover past experiences that may be contributing to their current struggles.

Enhancing Self-Awareness

Enhancing self-awareness helps clients recognize their emotions, behaviors, triggers, and patterns. It strengthens their relationship with themselves and their loved ones by helping them to manage emotions, communicate more effectively, set and respect healthy boundaries, and foster compassion with themselves and others.

Boosting Self-Esteem

Marta helps her clients increase confidence, know their self-worth, and refrain from negative self-talk. She encourages them to reflect on their feelings and why they are “so hard on themselves.” She helps her clients to recognize their strengths, talents, accomplishments, and awesome selves!
